Spend the Holidays in a Timeshare

With the holidays approaching, many people are making travel plans to visit family, but not everyone can get back home. The solution? Make the holidays special right where you are! Rent a timeshare at RedWeek.com and see what timeshares are available right near where you live. Whether it be Thanksgiving or Christmas, you can still "travel" and have a "holiday vacation", even in your own backyard.

You can share a timeshare with friends for a very inexpensive week "get away" as many of them cost less than $100 per night. If you can’t get away from work during the holidays, but would still like a break from your normal routine, you could find a resort that is close by so that you could drive to work, but then, come "home" to a resort! You'll enjoy the many resort's amenities on your days off or in the evening - soak in the hot tub, float in the pool, play tennis, stroll the golf course, or head out for cross-country skiing.

The kitchens allow you to make your own meals as you would at home, especially if you still want to cook a traditional holiday meal, but you'd be eating the meals out on your deck, or beside your fireplace, which might be quite a change from the way it is in your own home or apartment. Plus, many resorts have special holiday events to make a holiday resort vacation very special.

So, take the family, or share a timeshare with some friends. No matter what your situation is, you can still travel and have a wonderful holiday vacation, even if it’s close to home.

Timeshare Usage is Up

As reported by StarBulletin.com timeshare occupancy in Hawaii grew the first six months of 2009, even though the challenges in the economy showed an overall decline in visitors to the state. The Hawaii Tourism Authority reported that the number of visitors who spent their entire vacation in a timeshare was up by 5.8 percent over the previous year.

"The data proves that even in difficult times, timeshare owners and guests are committed to Hawaii and will come year in and year out," said Daniel Dinell, Vice President of Hilton Grand Vacation Club.

Last month over 67,000 visitors indicated that they planned to spend part of their vacation in a timeshare for their next vacation. This number represents a 5.1 percent increase in timeshare usage.

The most dramatic increase in timeshare usage was seen by Japanese visitors. Last month, Japanese visitors who planned to spend part of their vacation in a timeshare increased by 56.8 percent over the same time last year.

Timeshare Rentals at Your Favorite Hotel?

If you are new to timeshare rental or ownership, you may not be aware that your favorite hotel chain may also offer timeshare rentals. If you enjoy staying at Marriott, Hyatt, Wyndham or Hilton and you are a member of RedWeek.com, you can rent a timeshare at one of these resorts listed by timeshare owners on our site and pay around half of what you would normally pay for a standard hotel room. Plus, timeshare units have so much extra space, a kitchen and amenities you just can’t get with standard hotel rooms.

Hotel resorts created timeshare rooms and vacation clubs for timeshare owners who want to stay in home-like accommodations with family amenities. These rooms can be located right in the hotel, or at a separate resort right next to the hotel and are available for rent by the public from the timeshare owners themselves. When you rent a timeshare from our owners on RedWeek.com, you can save a lot of money on your next vacation, AND also enjoy the comforts of home.

Here’s just a handful of the hotels that offer timeshare resorts. For a complete list, see the web site for a directory of Timeshare Companies:

Top 5 All-Inclusive Caribbean Timeshare Resorts

All-inclusive resorts are the way to go if you want to have a fixed cost for food and drinks while on vacation. This option works great for many people who want to allot their vacation budget up front and not be surprised by prices during their stay. When you decide to stay at an all-inclusive resort, you pay everything up-front, which typically includes the following: the price of the nightly room rental, your meals, snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), activities, entertainment, tips, and resort taxes. If the all-inclusive package is optional, then the fees may be in addition to the price of the room. Be sure to get the most recent costs and list of inclusions prior to renting or buying a timeshare on RedWeek.com. Policies vary from resort to resort, so it’s always best to check with the timeshare owner or call the resort yourself to know what is included.

Here’s our list of the top 5 all-inclusive Caribbean timeshare resorts available for rent on RedWeek.com:

  1. Harborside Resort at Atlantis

  2. Occidental Grand Aruba

  3. Lifestyle Crown Villas

  4. Lifestyle Holiday Vacation Club at Hacienda Suites and Villas

  5. Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort

A Week of Golfing is a Great Timeshare Vacation

When planning your next timeshare vacation, why not choose a destination that offers golfing! A full week of playing golf would be a very relaxing way to spend your vacation. There are numerous timeshare resorts across the country that have golf courses close by or right next to the resort property. You’re sure to find several that are suitable for your golfing skill level so you can try a different course every day! Here’s a few suggestions to get you thinking about long drives, walking the greens, and perfectly placed putt on the back nine:

Las Vegas
Las Vegas, Nevada, offers more than 60 golf courses for every skill level. The Desert Pines is located less than 10 minutes from downtown, providing players of all abilities the opportunity to use every club in their bag! Or, try Rhodes Ranch with a multitude of water features, varying elevations, stunning city views and gently rolling fairways spread out over 162 acres (see photo). See Las Vegas timeshares.

Arizona
Golf opportunities are endless in Arizona. Play a round of championship golf in the stunning Sedona Golf Resort. Winding around the famed red rocks is an unforgettable and unique golf experience. Precautionary Steps for Timeshare Resales

As reported last month, the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) has released their two advisories that provide timeshare owners with tips to help them have a good experience when considering a timeshare resale. In an effort to dispel misinformation and confusion in the secondary timeshare market, the advisories include tips on: how to review timeshare resale companies, best practices to look for and general information on costs for services.

"It's simply a matter of buyer beware.” Says Cindy Thomas, Stoneridge Resort Manager. “With the state of the economy today, a large number of our owners are being approached by a variety of companies, with offers of previously unheard of rental revenues or resale prices, and even just "getting out from under" one's timeshare week. Many of these offers are hard to understand, even for the savviest of timeshare owners. Unfortunately, we have heard from many owners who were dissatisfied with the end result of these transactions and little can be done about it after the fact. As always, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it just might be. Be aware and be diligent. Do your own research and check with your own timeshare resort association before doing anything.”

The first timeshare resale advisory focuses on the types of timeshare resellers with four steps to guide consumers through the process: utilizing existing resources, understanding timeshare resale companies, choosing the best option, and following basic rules.

The second timeshare resale advisory provides tools to evaluate resale companies with a list of tips.

All consumers and timeshare owners who are considering reselling their timeshare should conduct their own research and do their due diligence. See the timeshare resources section of RedWeek.com for more details on Selling Your Timeshare.

Looking for a Pet Friendly Timeshare Resort?

Are you looking to travel to a pet friendly timeshare resort? RedWeek.com has a quick link on the right side of their Web site that can give you an extensive list of all the timeshare resorts that allow pets. Once on that page, you can make your search easier by using the “view” drop down menu to limit your results to Country and Region. Typically when pets are allowed, most resorts prefer a small pet. Once you find a resort you are interested in, be sure to contact them directly to learn about their pet policy.

There are some standard guidelines to be aware of as well, so that traveling with your pet is a great experience:
  • Bring your own bedding or a portable carrier for them to sleep in.

  • Do not allow your pet on the beds, couches or chairs in the room.

  • If leaving your pet alone in the room, provide toys and turn a radio on low volume for companionship.

  • Feed your pet on a tiled area, like the bathroom or kitchen.

  • Be outside the resort grounds when you take your dogs for a walk and clean up and dispose of waste properly.

  • Health regulations forbid pets from being in food service areas, so, they will not be able to visit the restaurant with you.

  • When outside, keep your pet on a leash for the comfort of others and their safety.
For a great resort in California that allows pets, see the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara in San Diego. This luxurious resort sits on top of a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a protected wildlife sanctuary, the Batiquitos Lagoon, and the championship Arnold Palmer golf course. The two-bedroom and three-bathroom villa include a fireplace, full kitchen, and private balconies. Guests enjoy an exclusive clubhouse, fitness center, and pool. See the RedWeek.com for more details and member reviews.

3 Easy Steps For Exchanging Your Week

Often, timeshare owners or members are confused when it comes to exchanging their week. And who can blame them? You have so many options these days. Here are a few RedWeek.com tips to remember:
  1. Be the early bird! Maximize your exchange value by depositing your week at your home resort as early as you can. The more desirable your week, the better trading power you’ll have.

  2. Next, go online to RedWeek.com and get a free Exchange Valuation so you can see what the value is for your timeshare interval. RedWeek.com removes the mystery by displaying the number of points you’ll need to book your ideal vacation.

  3. Deposit your week and start packing! (Even if your dream resort hasn’t shown up in RedWeek.com, yet, there’s a good chance it will, soon.)
One of the advantages to RedWeek.com is that when you bank your week with us, your points are good for three years versus the two most exchange companies provide. Another big benefit to you when you use RedWeek.com, is that we keep the point values transparent so that you can see how many points it takes to go where you want and how many points your timeshare is worth. It really helps when you’re planning your vacation to know what weeks you are qualified to get. With most exchange companies, you’re required to bank your week before you even know what its trading power will be. We’ve heard of folks having to make numerous requests. And many times, they wind up feeling stuck with a sixth or seventh choice that they really weren’t that excited about.

If you haven’t visited with us yet, why not log onto RedWeek.com right now for FREE as our guest? Once you’re logged in, get a free RedWeek Exchange Valuation. We’ll tell you how many RedWeek Exchange Points your week is worth the next business day. Visit our Web site for more information about RedWeek.com’s Timeshare Exchange Program.
