Improvements Underway at Disney Timeshare Resorts

Disney Vacation Club has already begun “refurbishment” (as they say in the Disney park) on Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. Upgrades for this timeshare resort and Disney’s Old Key West include some great improvements to refresh the interiors such as: refinishing of wood floors and replacing carpets; fresh coats of paint; and replacements for blinds and draperies.

Other improvements include: Reupholstering sofas, new granite countertops, and updated kitchen cabinetry hardware. New ceiling fans will be installed and new lamps will be added. The electronics upgrade is quite exciting as all televisions will now be flat screens. All improvements for both properties will be complete by Spring of 2011.

Also on the list for upgrades is the Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Their big plan for 2010 is to greatly expand and renovate the pool area. Timeshare owners will love the new 3300 square foot pool that will include a 146-foot water slide. Guests can relax in the hot tub and the kids can enjoy a spacious water play area as well. New outside dining will also be available in the pool area with a place to get quick service on burgers, fries and drink refills.

We have two interactive versions of the RedWeek.com widget. One allows someone to search by location (such as Orlando or Maui) and the other that makes it easy to find a resort by searching on its name (this one will even auto fill your answer and provide options based on what you’ve typed to help guide you). Both widgets will direct the person back to RedWeek.com with the results found.

A Kauai Timeshare: Paradise within Paradise

The beautiful Hawaiian island of Kauai has been called "Paradise within Paradise." A family vacation on this stunning island can easily be yours when you rent a timeshare. Located on the north shore of Kauai, Princeville was originally a coffee plantation that was established in 1853. It's now the largest planned development on Kauai, and home to some of Hawaii's most luxurious resorts. Below is just a sample of timeshare resorts available on RedWeek.com. All have spacious units with patios or lanais, fully equipped kitchens, and separate living areas.

The Cliffs at Princeville
Even with the Gold Crown rating through RCI and a 5 Star rating with Interval International, timeshare rentals at The Cliffs at Princeville start at the reasonable price of just $57/night. Perched on a high bluff with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and of spectacular sunsets, this resort has 22 acres of lush tropical landscaping, and amenities that include everything from a pool and a spa to tennis, and even a putting green with a sand trap. The nearby Foodland market is reasonably priced for groceries for budget meals in your timeshare kitchen. Grill your own steaks at the BBQ area poolside. One RedWeek member says, "If you are looking for a retreat from the stress of daily life, you will never want to leave."

Hanalei Bay Resort
The Hanalei Bay Resort sits beachfront on a semi-private, secluded white sand beach on the famous and spectacular Hanalei Bay. Timeshare rentals here start at just $71/night. Breathtaking sunsets and a picturesque pool amid lush tropical gardens are just some of the wonderful natural amenities for you to enjoy. For a break from your meals in your timeshare enjoy the popular onsite Happy Talk Lounge for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and live entertainment in the evening. Member reviews say, "Love this resort - Friendly, smiling staff makes a point to get to know you during the week."

Is it Time to Sell Your Timeshare?

Is it time to sell your timeshare - to trade up, or maybe downsize? If you've started noticing that your current timeshare just isn't working for you any longer, have no fears. Our needs - and wants - change over the years, and when they do it's time to take charge and make that change.

Perhaps you were a bit timid when buying a timeshare for the first time, and now that you've become a seasoned timeshare owner you know more about what you want in a timeshare vacation. Perhaps you started out as timeshare owners when you were a young married couple, and now that you have children you need more room and a resort that is kid friendly. Perhaps it's an "empty nest" for you now, and you would prefer a smaller unit at a slower-paced resort near a great golf course.

When you do decide to purchase another timeshare, think about going the "resale" route. There are definite advantages to buying resale through a reputable company such as RedWeek. If you buy a timeshare directly from a developer, the cost can easily be up to a third more than buying resale, for the exact same thing.

Some developers do offer incentives, such as being able to reserve a specific unit (if it's available) and free guest confirmations. But when you crunch the numbers you'll find that the incentives are pricey and might not be worth the extra cost. And keep in mind that when you buy from a developer you are also paying for his high overhead and marketing costs.

RedWeek lists many timeshare resales, and with RedWeek there are no surprises. As you look through RedWeek's listings and do your research you'll see that the resale prices are much less than comparable timeshares purchased through developers. In addition, RedWeek takes its role in assisting those who want to buy resale very seriously and has strict guidelines to which resellers must adhere in their postings.

So go ahead, make a change in your timeshare ownership by buying resale, secure in the knowledge that you have RedWeek's vast knowledge and experience with you, and that buying a timeshare resale is the right thing to do right now!

Maui Timeshare Zipping at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas

Article written by guest blogger: John Locher, VP of Marketing for RedWeek.com (Part 2 of 2)

As I mentioned in my last article, before this trip, Kauai was my favorite Hawaiian island, but, after my stay at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas on Maui I have another favorite to add to the list. The island and this resort was nothing short of wonderful. The one bedroom unit I stayed in was quite spacious and the timeshare resort itself had so many amenities and recreational services that I didn't have nearly enough time to enjoy them all in the 4 days I was there.

One thing I did make time for was the Flyin Hawaiian Zipline. This thrill seeker activity has 8 separate lines that you do consecutively and it takes about 4 hours to complete the entire journey. Their tour contains nearly 2.5 miles of zipline and brags to have the longest AND second longest of any zipline available in Hawaii. One is over 3200 feet!

But, don’t think that you just get a ticket and go! They train you, provide protective gear and make sure you are securely harnessed. In addition to flying over tree tops, there are some very short steep hikes between the platforms to each line. The view on top of the mountain is breathtaking as you overlook the Maui coastline, including the area known as "Jaws" where the tumultuous surf is often at record heights.

One question we all had of our guide was, "how do I stop myself on this cable once I’m at the bottom?" Well you soon find out that you have to be prepared before hitting their custom braking system or the jolts will stay with you for a few days. Their guides are coaching you all the way and giving signals for when to get in the stooping position. They realize that you are taking in the scenery and getting caught up in the rush of speed, so they are there to help. After a few runs you easily get the hang of it.

If you decide to take one of their tours, I encourage you to read about their "eco" friendly posture and dedication to protecting the mountain. We even planted some endangered flowers during our journey. I really enjoyed naming and planting my own flower on the mountain side we had just zipped over.

So, at the end of this trip, I now have two favorite islands in Hawaii; Kauai and Maui. If your plans take you to Kauai, check out the timeshare rentals at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas. But, if you want to have the best zipline adventure I highly recommend that Maui should be your first choice.

See part 1 of this article for a detailed review of A Maui Timeshare Experience at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.

A Maui Timeshare Experience at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas

Article written by guest blogger: John Locher, VP of Marketing for RedWeek.com (Part 1 of 2)

My favorite Hawaiian island used to be Kauai, before this trip. When I left my Seattle area home at 6AM it was 19 degrees. When I landed on Maui it had just rained and was 75 degrees. Even with a little drizzle I put the top down on my rental convertible and I was in heaven. There is a vibe for me on Maui that resonates in many ways. First is the weather, then the Jawaiian music (Reggae with island flavor), add in the kick-back island style and of course the ocean and how could you not have a great vacation. But, this trip for me was primarily for business. In less than 20 minutes from the airport on the ocean road to Lahaina it was a clear, sunny and 80 degrees. Perfect weather that remained for the next 4 days of my stay.

My timeshare unit was at the wonderful Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas. When you drive up there are two resorts, the first one is the “North” building. RedWeek.com offers timeshare rentals and timeshare resales at both the main building and the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas North where I stayed. This building just opened up in 2007.

Like so many properties in Hawaii the building opens up wide to the outside and faces the ocean. The main lobby overlooks a koi pond, 2 pools and finally the palm tree guarded beach. It is a grand entrance. Just standing there makes you forget anything else that may be on your mind.

When you visit the "North" building lobby you’ll find some separate amenities such as the spa, the Westin workout and a few different bars and restaurants but the resort property is really just one large facility and you are welcome to stroll between buildings. The North resort area also features a very unique pool with a pirate ship and slide for kids, right next to the Kids Club.

The spacious rooms are the best in Westin luxury. The kitchens are large with marble topped counters. The dishwasher, fridge, washer/dryer and cookware were all high-quality and like-new. The bathroom had a separate glass enclosure for shower and toilet and a separate Jacuzzi tub with folding opaque glass windows opening to the bedroom. My timeshare rental unit was a one bedroom. There were two flat screens TV, DVD players and a music system. The place was furnished perfectly and I had a vast amount of space. There were two sliding glass doors, one from the living room and one from the bedroom that opened onto the patio. The pool was 20 feet away and the beach another 30 footsteps beyond that.

The location, unit, service and resort amenities were all you would ever need on any vacation. In fact, I didn't have nearly enough time to enjoy all of the recreation, restaurants and services the resort itself had to offer. That is a challenge when one is doing business on Maui or just on vacation. You need a lot of time to lay back and take it all in.

See part 2 of this article to learn about Maui Timeshare Zipping at the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas.

Timeshare Company Alleged in Consumer Fraud

As reported by Legal Newsline, North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem has issued a cease and desist order against the company doing business as Premier Timeshare Solutions. They are a Palm Beach Gardens, Florida timeshare company that has allegedly violated North Dakota's consumer fraud, home solicitation sales and do not call laws.

In addition, the principals of the company, Jose Goyos, and Kristina Cameron, have been included in the cease and desist order. Stenehjem has alleged that they falsely promised timeshare owners that they had buyers ready to purchase their timeshare resales.

"Premier's deceptive sales practices constitute an absolute scam. Premier's claims that they have buyers for the timeshares are untrue and are nothing more than a ruse to obtain money under false pretenses," Stenehjem said. "This conduct in North Dakota will be prosecuted."

The consumers allege that they had been charged thousands of dollars in advance for timeshare resale services by Premier Timeshare Solutions, but the company never delivered. One consumer claimed that they paid $4,200 for this service with no result. When the timeshare owners attempt to follow up with the company, their calls go unanswered, there is no way to leave a message and no refunds are ever issued.

Listed at number 8 this resort has a National Parks old lodge rustic feel to it. You'll even get to watch the Old Faithful geyser faithfully erupt. A 1930's eastern seaboard boardwalk along the shore is what is summoned up at Disney's BoardWalk Villas. Coming in at number 2 on the Top 25 list, pets are allowed at this Atlantic City-style seaside resort, where timeshare rentals start at just $126/night. The old Americana ambiance will transport you to another time and place. Rent a paddle boat or a surrey bike and enjoy another era. Member quote: "It's a beautiful resort with great service - you'll love it here!"

Disney's Beach Club Villas was voted as the number 1 timeshare rental resort by Redweek members, and is considered one of the top resorts in the world. (see photo) This amazing resort has 3 acres of water slides and sand bottom pools, a white sand beach, and even pontoon boating. Timeshare rentals start at $175/night which gives you a "three-fer" - guests here are also welcome to enjoy the amenities of Disney's Yacht Club and Disney's Beach Club Resorts located right next door. If you are going over Christmas, see what this member has to say: "Best thing were the Christmas decorations. We took almost an entire day just to visit each resort and look at all the decorations. Amazing!"

Top 5 Reasons to Love a Timeshare

Whether you are new to timeshares and considering a timeshare resale, or you are already an owner, these are the top 5 reasons to love a timeshare:
  1. Choices
Timeshare ownership gives you choices. Through timeshare exchange, you can change your destination, resort, unit size and even the time of the year in which you travel, and it’s easy to do at an online site like RedWeek.com.

  2. Quality
The quality of accommodations offered at timeshare resorts is typically higher than that of standard hotel rooms. In fact, some of the top hospitality brands have specifically developed timeshare resorts that exceed the quality of their established hotel brand, such as Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton.

  3. Amenities
The amenities that come with a timeshare vacation are more than just the additional space in your room, many of the resorts also offer great activities and bonuses, all included in the price of your unit.

    • Amenities in unit:
Fully equipped kitchen with separate dining area; washer and dryer; stereo; more than 1 television; DVD players and VCRs (with movies available)

    • Amenities at the Resort:
Swimming pools (often more than 1); tennis courts; Jacuzzi; spa facilities; fitness gyms; golf courses; water sports and planned activities for kids of all ages.

  4. Family Memories
Taking annual timeshare vacations is a great way to ensure that your family spends quality time together building special memories. With so many destinations to choose from, your family can relax and enjoy outstanding locations year after year. Studies show that timeshare owners tend to vacation more than others and it’s one of the best ways to reconnect with your loved ones.

  5. Future Cost Savings
And, don’t forget that when you purchase your timeshare at today’s prices, you are guaranteeing a lifetime of vacations without the worry about inflation costs. Your future vacation costs the same every year, as others are paying more and more as hotel rates continually increase.

Rent a Timeshare for Holiday House Guests

If you have a large family and everyone is descending your way for the holidays, why not rent them a timeshare? Timeshares are available across the United States and there is sure to be one close to your city that offers all the comforts of home, especially if your home is too small to accommodate sleeping arrangements for up to eight people!

A timeshare will allow your family and guests ample space to spread out and with all the extra room, no one will be in each other’s way when the hustle and bustle of the holidays tapers off and everyone needs some downtime. Depending on the number of guests you expect, there is a timeshare that is just the right size. When browsing RedWeek.com for timeshare rentals available, you’ll see the listing shown with the number of bedrooms in the unit. The bedrooms are almost always actual rooms off of the main living area. A studio or hotel-style accommodation would be listed as having zero bedrooms, for example. Most timeshares are equipped with sleeper sofas, so, a one-bedroom will usually sleep four people comfortably, a two-bedroom sleeps six and a three-bedroom sleeps eight.

So, this year, make the holidays a little less hectic and give everyone a little more room (and their own bed) to be well rested and energized for the many days of festive family events.
