Orlando and Buena Vista resorts, including Westgate Timeshare Resorts, Disney Vacation Club Timeshares, and Wyndham Vacation Ownership, are joining forces with Clean the World. Clean the World is an Orlando-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide impoverished people with soap.
Every year thousands of poverty-stricken people around the world die of respiratory diseases and diarrhea because they have no soap and so are unable to maintain any kind of cleanliness. In an attempt to prevent this tragedy, Clean the World distributes soap, along with associated educational materials and training, to both impoverished countries and domestic homeless shelters.
The Westgate resorts in Central Florida, including the Westgate Blue Tree Resort, The Westgate Palace, and The Westgate Towers, Wyndham resorts including Wyndham Bonnet Creek, and all of the Disney timeshares, donate the partially-used complimentary soap and shampoo that guests leave behind, to the Clean the World Hospitality Recycling Program. The soap and shampoo is then sterilized and distributed to needy people around the world. A bonus is that these items then do not end up in a land-fill.
In 2009, Clean the World distributed more than 230 tons of hygiene products to countries worldwide. “By joining our program, these resorts will help provide even more supplies for those in desperate need,” said Shawn Seipler, co-founder and executive director of Clean the World.
Since the earthquake in Haiti, Clean the World has stepped up its campaign and is distributing donated personal care products to the stricken Haitian people in its relief efforts. “The scope of destruction caused by this disaster is compounded by the fact that Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. There is a desperate need for even the most basic necessities," stated Seipler. The partnership of Clean the World with major resorts is making this relief effort possible.
When you stay at one of these timeshare resorts, you, too, will be helping to make a difference in the lives of people around the world desperate for this kind of help.
