Top 25 Resorts Spotlight - The Best of Florida (Part One)

Next to Hawaii, Florida had the most resorts placing in our Top 25 Rental Resorts list. Florida is also home to the number one resort making our list this year. Curious as to what makes our winner so enticing to RedWeek members? Read on!

Disney's Beach Club Villas

Disney's Beach Club Villas is no stranger to the top spot on our annual list. We've seen this Disney gem place quite a few times, and it's little wonder why. Beach Club Villas' prime spot right on Walt Disney World property is a huge draw, but it's not only Orlando's premier theme park that makes for such a desirable vacation spot. The resort itself offers a whimsical beachy aesthetic and a family-friendly attitude. If that's not enough, Disney's Beach Club Villas also boasts some amazing on-site dining options and the fantastically themed Stormalong Bay water recreation center.

Disney's BoardWalk Villas

Disney's BoardWalk Villas celebrates the classic charm of the Eastern seaboard's legendary boardwalks. What makes this property so special is right there in the name - the boardwalk. Along the length of the resort lies a plethora of dining options, shopping and live entertainment. If you're looking for a night out with friends, consider taking a walk down to Atlantic Dance Hall or Jellyrolls dueling piano bar. Rent a surrey bike and take the entire family for a ride around the BoardWalk's own Crescent Lake. And with Walt Disney World's Epcot and Hollywood Studios just a short walk away, there's no better way to experience the Disney magic.

Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Wrapping up today's list is another renowned Disney Vacation Club property - Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. However, the Wilderness Lodge forsakes the easy-going, beachy atmosphere of the last two resorts in favor of a rustic and woodsy reimagining of a lodge hidden away in the Rocky Mountains - you definitely don't feel like you're vacationing in Florida! A major draw of this particular resort is the quick ferry service to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, but that certainly doesn't mean there's not fun to be had on-site. Especially of interest are the two major dining options - Artist's Point and Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Next week, we'll tackle what makes our next three Floridian resorts so tempting! Be sure to check back next Monday for the rundown, as well as to see which region we'll cover next!

Top 25 Resorts Spotlight - The Best of Hawaii (Part Two)

Last week, we introduced you to RedWeek members' four favorite Hawaiian resorts. With a total of eight resorts in our Top 25 representing Hawaii, we decided to tackle the other half in today's post. Let's continue where we left off with our fifth-ranking Hawaiian resort...

Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina Villas

Last week we explored the main building of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club. However, the more recently-added Lahaina Villas are nearly as popular as their parent resort. The Lahaina Villas borrow from the spirit of the original Ocean Club while also embracing a brighter, breezier decor and adding in full-scale kitchens to the units. Best of all, guests to the Villas retain access to all of the enticing amenities offered at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club.

Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

Resting against the sands of Poipu Beach, Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club encompasses the splendor of Kauai. The resort itself is nestled amongst of waterfalls and lagoons and lush, tropical plant life - and the beach is right outside the door. The Beach Club has no shortages of activities either; you can choose to explore all the attractions Kauai has to offer, or indulge in all that can be done right on-site. With pools, a restaurant, marketplace cafe, fitness center and private lanais in every unit, that's quite a tempting thought.

Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Napili Villas

Sister resort to the enthusiastically-recieved Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina Villas, the Napili Villas offers even more of the roomier, kitchen-included villas that owners have come to adore. Just like Lahaina's guests, those staying in the Napili Villas have full access to all of the Ocean Club's amenities.

Kaanapali Beach Club

Kaanapali Beach Club always ranks high on our Top 25 lists, and for good reason. While it's not attached to any of the big-name resort developers, that doesn't stop Kaanapali Beach Club from being a perennial favorite amongst our members. Between a fantastic location right on the beach and gorgeously furnished rooms that capture the essence of Hawaii, Kaanapali Beach Club holds its own against even the biggest resorts year after year.

Next week, we'll be looking into the resorts that represent Florida on our Top 25 list, including this year's first place pick!

With a total of eight separate properties making the list, we decided to cover four at a time to give a more in-depth look at what makes these resorts so desirable.

Marriott's Maui Ocean Club

Based in Lahaina, Marriott's Maui Ocean Club has long been a favorite among RedWeek members and boasts one of the largest rental posting counts of any resort. Marriott's Maui Ocean Club carries a strong focus on relaxing and taking in all that beautiful Maui has to offer. Nestled right up alongside Ka'anapali Beach, the Ocean Club offers classic beachside fun as well a host of shopping and dining opportunities in the nearby Whaler Village. Perhaps the biggest draw of Marriott's Maui Ocean Club is the 3.5 acre superpool complete with a water slide, waterfalls, children's area and a poolside bar.

Also, be sure to check out Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Lahaina Villas and Marriott's Maui Ocean Club - Napili Villas for units with full kitchens.

Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club

On the western shore of Oahu, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club truly embraces the spirit of water; the resort is ringed by seven lagoons as well as countless waterfalls and fountains. A host of tropical gardens and native flora only enhance the hidden-paradise vibe of the Ko Olina Beach Club and lend a exotic feel to the property's numerous pools and whirlpools, poolside bar and grill, full-service marina and wedding chapel. Situated just thirty minutes from downtown Honolulu, there's plenty to keep any group occupied - snorkeling, windsurfing, sushi dining, helicopter rides and the staple favorite; lounging under the sun.

The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas

Tucked tightly against Ka'anapali Beach, The Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villas holds true to its namesake. With unparalleled views of the Pacific Ocean as well as the island of Lana'i and Moloka'i, The Westin Ka'anapali focuses on providing guests with luxury in one of Hawaii's most beautiful getaways. The Spa Helani onsite is part of Westin's Heavenly Spa chain and assures guests the utmost pampering, while one of the fully-equipped Westin Workout Centers keeps you feeling as great as you look.

Situated oceanside on Honolulu's famed beach Waikiki, Hilton Hawaiian Village seeks to provide everything needed for the perfect Hawaiian vacation. There's six pools and a waterpark, twenty separate restaurants and bars, scenic grounds with exotic wildlife and gardens, ninety boutiques and specialty stores, Mandara Spa and daily activities that range from hula lessons to giving surfing a shot - and it's all onsite. Guests testify that getting away from the resort to experience the rest of the area is a challenge in and of itself!
