Are you looking to travel to a pet friendly timeshare resort? RedWeek.com has a quick link on the right side of their Web site that can give you an extensive list of all the timeshare resorts that allow pets. Once on that page, you can make your search easier by using the “view” drop down menu to limit your results to Country and Region. Typically when pets are allowed, most resorts prefer a small pet. Once you find a resort you are interested in, be sure to contact them directly to learn about their pet policy.

There are some standard guidelines to be aware of as well, so that traveling with your pet is a great experience:

  • Bring your own bedding or a portable carrier for them to sleep in.
  • Do not allow your pet on the beds, couches or chairs in the room.
  • If leaving your pet alone in the room, provide toys and turn a radio on low volume for companionship.
  • Feed your pet on a tiled area, like the bathroom or kitchen.
  • Be outside the resort grounds when you take your dogs for a walk and clean up and dispose of waste properly.
  • Health regulations forbid pets from being in food service areas, so, they will not be able to visit the restaurant with you.
  • When outside, keep your pet on a leash for the comfort of others and their safety.

For a great resort in California that allows pets, see the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara in San Diego. This luxurious resort sits on top of a hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean, a protected wildlife sanctuary, the Batiquitos Lagoon, and the championship Arnold Palmer golf course. The two-bedroom and three-bathroom villa include a fireplace, full kitchen, and private balconies. Guests enjoy an exclusive clubhouse, fitness center, and pool.
